Warning Signs that IRS Is Going To Get Up Close and Personal

You are excited about the 3 day weekend.  all arrangements have been made, airfare, accommodations at one of Park City's best hotels and you have invitations to all the best parties for the weekend.  Your new ski outfit looks great.

You have automatic payroll deposit, so after work you head for the airport.  You tell yourself you will stop at an ATM on the way and get some cash.

Everything is great, your flight is on time, no real delays with airport security and your suitcase fits under the seat of the aircraft without any problems.  You arrive at the Denver airport in time to catch your bus to Park City and decide to grab a bite to eat.

You pull out your debt/credit card to pay for your dinner.  When the waiter returns and informs you that your credit card was declined.

Your heart drops and you say, "That's not possible" You go through all the steps with the end result being your credit card is declined and your bank informs you via your cell phone that there was an IRS levy on your checking and savings account.

You instantly remember that payroll had sent you an internal communications that you forgot to open.  Now you are stuck in Denver with about $30 in cash.  You remember all those letters IRS had sent to you over the past year.  AND you remember saying to yourself  "I will pay them next month"  You even remember that yellow slip from the post office that said you had certified mail from the IRS.  And you remember that how you never went and picked up the certified mail.

WARNING SIGN: When IRS sends you a letter that requires your signature, run, not walk to your Tax Professional.  Usually at this point you will have 30 days before IRS will levy your bank account and/or your wages
